Dr Bill Andrews interviewed by Dr Ross Walker on 2UE

Ross.  The Holy Grails medical research is to find the so-called fountain of youth. There are numerous research facilities all over the world who devoted to this purpose.  Doctor Bill Andrews run such a facility he’s an award-winning molecular biologist, gerontologist and wait for this one this
one a monthly 100-mile, ultra marathon runner.  Somebody should tell him about a bus service.  He’s discovered a key compound the triggers the ends on the unlocks the biologic fountain of youth he’s the founder and president of the biotechnology company Sierra Sciences.  And I’m delighted to say he is on the line.  Good evening bill.

Andrews.  Good evening thank you for having me.

Ross. It’s a great pleasure can you explain to listeners “what are telomeres?

Andrews. Telomers are really small things inside our cells very tips of out chromosomes, our chromosomes are where all out eye color and hair color and stuff like that. The very tips of our chromosomes are called telomeres. Kind of like a shoelace. Yes. The caps on your shoelaces are equivalent to the telomeres on your chromosomes.

Ross. So how do these telomeres reverse aging or effecting the telomeres reverse aging.

Andrews. Well first telomeres shorten as you age and the shortening seems to have an effect on gene expression on various genes on a chromosome mmm it’s not totally understood how that happens but we were able to show all twenty years ago that we lengthen the telomeres that
gene expression pattern reverses to a young expression pattern.

Ross. Right.

Andrews. We don’t know how but at least we knew the it did.  So we did that a long time ago by using gene therapy techniques which
really can’t be used for humans. Ever since then we’ve been trying to develop chemicals are natural products that will
help cause our cells to start producing as own elements to lengthen the telomeres. And that element is called telomerase . We have a gene for it but its not turned on we are looking for things that would cause our cells to start producing telomerase to lengthen the telomeres.

Ross.  Right so you’ve discovered a compound that does in fact affect telomerase.  How did you discovered the compound and what is it?

Andrews. Oh well for years and years of just random drug screening at first we were we must have tested 300,00 different chemicals a random. um. Just looking for anything that that stimulated cells to start producing telomeres. We found the very first one in 2007.  That was just the 57,684th chemical that we tested. That just open the door to a lot of stuff.  Because now we had a positive control and so further screening was much simplified
much faster.  At about 314,000, well it was actually 314,818, we found the chemical that is actually in the products that we’re talking about

Ross. Right I can add that the chemical is was from what I remember most things come from something in nature. So for example I know there is one telomere inducer TA 65 the comes from Astra Galoss. So where does your compound come from?

Andrews. Yeah well first let me say that I also played a role in developing  TA65.  I did the clinical studies on TA65 to show that it works but this is actually a synthetic chemical.

Ross. Right

Andrews.  Our efforts to do natural products have been successful in getting things that stimulates telomeres in human cells but
not to levels that we really need to see.   Some really promising things are synthetic chemicals.  Actually the synthetic chemicals in the
in the test that we’ve done has has been shown to be much safer and stonger than most natural products.

Ross.  Right that’s really good.

Andrews.  But yes its a synthetic chemical.

Ross. Ok so what what trials have been performed on this chemical and could you tell us a bit about the safety data with them.

Andrews.  Well it was done at a company called Abich a b i c h in Italy.  This is a company that routinely does clinical studies on skin cosmetic products and a they did both efficacy studies looking at like crowfeet on people’s our eyes. They show that the crowfeet almost disappear after 60 days of use. They also did safety studies they did looking at genisity, they looked at any toxic side effects showing up on the skin.  None.  They did an Ames test looking for
carcinogenesis. This synthetic chemical came out to be extremely safe and more efficacious.  Actually showing it works better than any skin cream they’ve ever seen an Abich laboratories!

Ross. Right so but now I’m presuming that this is now a tablet that you swallow?

Andrews. No this is now a skin cream. This molecule called TAM-818 it is actually in a skin cream now and is being sold as a product called One Truth
818. The website is https://onetruth818.com.au.

Rosss. Pretty exciting stuff. So if people want to find out more about this they go to the website http://www.onethruth818.com.au. I’m also aware that you’re giving a public talk.

Andrews.  Yes Sign up to go to this talk at that same web site.

NB  There are copies of the talks on the website http://www.onethruth818.com.au as the public seminar is now past.

Andrews. And I’ve got a book called Curing Aging it’s actually doing quite well on in on Amazon dot com in the US.

NB You can get the first three chapters free on the website http://www.onethruth818.com.au

Andrews. We will be giving six copies of that book away up to the first six callers.

Ross.  That’s fantastic so if anyone would like to win a copy that book the first six callers can get a copy of
“Curing Aging” by Dr Bill Andrews and if you want to go to the public seminar go to the website https://onetruth818.com.au  and find out more.  Dr Bill Anders I’d like to thank you  very much for your time this evening.

Andrews. Thank you.

End Transciption.
